How to report a scam or suspicious activity

Updated over 3 weeks ago

If something doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts. Here’s how to spot common scams, what to do about them, and how to tell if a message claiming to be from Splice is actually legitimate.

Recognising a scam

Scammers can be convincing, but there are a few common tactics to watch out for:

  • Unexpected messages asking for urgent payment or threatening disconnection

  • Requests for payment via gift cards or cryptocurrency

  • Poor spelling, grammar, or odd phrasing

  • Suspicious-looking links or slightly incorrect email addresses

  • Pressure to provide personal information or account details

If something feels off, stop and double-check before responding.

What to do

If you receive a suspicious email, call, or message:

  1. Don’t click on any links or open attachments

  2. Don’t reply or share personal information

  3. Let us know:

  4. Report to Scamwatch, an ACCC service that monitors scams and helps raise public awareness. Visit scamwatch.gov.au.

If you think your account may have been compromised, contact us right away.
