What happens after I place a lead-in order?

Updated over 2 months ago

Ordering a lead-in is the first step to getting your home or business connected to the Rural Fibre Co network through Splice Internet. Here’s what happens next.

Initial confirmation

Once you’ve placed your order, you’ll receive an email confirmation from us with:

  • Your chosen plan

  • Your confirmed installation date

  • An order reference number

  • Links to manage your booking or update your details

Next steps

  1. Network checks – Rural Fibre Co confirms your street is ready for a lead-in and checks the best route to your property.

  2. Site preparation – Our team reviews any special requirements for your property (e.g. long driveways, existing conduits, or shared access).

  3. Installation day – On your booked date, our crew will:

    • Bring the fibre cable from the street to your premises

    • Install it neatly along the agreed route

    • Connect it to the internal equipment location for activation (inside your house)

Possible delays

While most lead-ins are installed on the booked day, sometimes we need:

  • Additional civil works – If there are obstacles like rock, concrete, or underground services

  • Permissions – For shared driveways, body corporate, or council approvals

  • Weather rescheduling – Heavy rain can delay some works

If delays occur, we’ll contact you as soon as possible with your new expected timeframe.

Tip: Inside access will be needed to connect the fibre to your modem location – so someone over 18 must be home.
